Portland Timbers goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey is set for a four-week spell on the sidelines with a finger injury.

The reliable gloves man suffered the setback in Timbers 3-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes last Saturday and had to be replaced on 50 minutes.

But the club have announced the Ghana international will not require a reconstructive surgery.

"Adams Kwarasey tore a ligament in his finger after getting it caught in the turf at Providence Park while picking up the ball after a shot from San Jose. Though he will not need surgery, he must wear a splint on his injured finger,” Portland Timbers coach Caleb Porter stated.

"You never like injuries, but we feel like we have a really capable goalkeeper in Jake Gleeson.

"Obviously, he played in the playoffs last year in a pressure game versus Vancouver and came into this game (against San Jose) and we didn’t miss a beat."
