Portsmouth to target Appiah Again

Portsmouth will reportedly make a January swoop for Fenerbahce midfielder Stephen Appiah after failing to sign him during the summer.

The former Juventus man, who was outstanding in Ghana's World Cup campaign in the summer, was reportedly looking to quit the Turkish side following their failure to qualify for the Champions League this season. But they were desperate to keep the player and managed to keep him on board following Thursday's transfer deadline.

However fresh reports claim Appiah wanted a move to the Premiership and was fuming with Fenerbahce officials for not giving him the opportunity when Pompey came calling. As a result he will almost certainly demand a switch in the New Year window and Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp could be set to pay up to ?8million to secure his services
