Portugal to miss Ronaldo for Mexico friendly over injury

Portugal will be without inspirational captain Cristiano Ronaldo for their friendly match against Mexico on Saturday as the Real Madrid star continues to struggle with his fitness ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

The world best player is battling a knee and thigh injury as doctors continue to work on him in a desperate attempt to regain an appreciable level of fitness for this month’s tournament in Brazil.

The Selecao have however been hit with another disappointing news that their captain will again be unavailable for their friendly match against Mexico in Massachusetts on Saturday.

Ronaldo is battling tendinosis and a muscle injury in his left leg which has limited him to a special training program with the Portuguese physios.

Coach Paulo Bento is even uncertain of a return date for his talismanic forward. “We have set no deadline for Ronaldo’s return,” Bento said.

“Before talking about footballers, we are talking about human beings, and their well-being is our number one concern.

“We will let the players recover as best as possible in their own time.” Ghanaian witch doctor Nana Kwaku Bonsam claims to be the one behind Ronaldo’s injuries meant to prevent him from playing against the Black Stars in the final Group G game at the finals in Brazil.

Bonsam’s spiritual machinations appear to be working so far with the world best player struggling to regain fitness with just seven days to the commencement of the 2014 World Cup.
