Accra, Dec 30, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club is said to have sacrificed their head coach, Abdul Karim Zito after selling out another abysmal performance at the seventh week Onetouch Premier League.
The team could only produce a one all drawn game in their match against Tema Youth at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Sunday. An aggrieved member of the club told GNA Sports on condition of anonymity minutes after the game that, "that is the last you have seen of Zito". He is fired.
He said the Phobians will convey an emergency meeting in the next few hours to announce the decision to axe the under fire coach who has so far supervised two wins, two draws and three losses in seven games of the league.
Hearts engaged the services of the former Asante Kotoko trainer in the pre-season after parting ways with Bulgarian coach, Mitko Kostadinov Dubrez who won the league title last season.
The member said the defending champions are considering replacing coach Zito with either Mohammed Ahmed Polo or Ken Auggust, both previous trainers of city rivals, Accra Great Olympics.
Hearts has in recent times laboured in vain to stay in their fearsome element and consistently delivered poor performances that have seen the Stephen Akwetey-led Interim Management Committee (IMC) losing their jobs in the process.
Coach Zito and his backroom staff survived earlier axing about three weeks ago when the IMC gave way to former Chief Executives, Harry Zakour and Thomas Okine in a bid to salvage the team's campaign. Hearts are tenth in the 16-team Premiership with eight points out of a possible 21. 30 Dec. 07
