Ashgold SC midfielder, Seidu Nuhu, has suggested that players in the Ghana Premier League wear black armbands to show support for the departed souls in the Sierra Leone mudslide. The former Tema Youth youngster made the revelation in an exclusive interview with www.ghanacrusader.com ahead of the return of the nation’s top tier.
The African continent has been rocked with news that the over 300 people lost their lives through the dreaded mudslide in Sierra Leone last week. The death toll could reportedly reach 1000 as 600 more people are still missing, a phenomenon Seidu Nuhu believes deserves support from every single soul.
The Miners midfielder, devastated on seeing visuals of the fatal disaster on social media, suggested that players and officials of the Ghana Premier League clubs should show support by wearing black armbands.
“It is not an accident affecting only Sierra Leone but an African accident and must be treated as such. The least we can do to help out is to wear armbands and even if possible part was with something small. It is a natural disaster and must be treated by the whole continent.
“Even if all the players can part way with 10 cedi, we can generate over 5000 cedi which can take care of one child who might have lost his parents in such a cruel manner. We have to support them “, Seidu Nuhu told www.ghanacrusader.com
The Miners midfielder and his colleagues will be returning to action later this month when the GHPL returns on August 27.
