Premier league clubs to get busy

Accra, Aug 1, GNA --- The Kinapharma Premier League is going to be much busier after the 11th week matches following a revision of the 2003 league fixtures as well as the national soccer programme.

The league fixtures were revised after the Professional League Board had met with the club chairmen of the 16 premier league clubs following the inability of the Black Stars to qualify for Tunisia 2004.

According to the revised fixtures there would be mid-week league matches throughout the month of August with the first round of the league ending on August 17.

The second round of the league is scheduled to begin on August 24, but would witnesses some intermittent breaks as a result Kumasi Asante Kotoko's campaign in the Africa Cup Winners Cup competition.

The league is expected to go on a long break after 23rd week league matches to prepare the Senior national team, the Blacks Stars for an encounter with Somalia in World cup qualifying series while the national under -23 team undertakes Olympic games qualifying matches.

The league would then resume on October 29 and would be expected to end on November 23.
