Pressure mounting as Hearts players have 5 weeks to make team

Following the declaration by the new coach Herbert Addo that he will need five weeks to determine who stays or goes, the playing body of Accra Hearts of Oak are doing all they can to make sure they get into the good books of the coaches.

The coach who replaced Mohammed Polo after helping Inter Allies to survive the turbulence in the premiership last season said he was not in a rush to sign players until he had finished assessing his current crop of players, an action he stressed will take him five weeks.

The coach who together with the rest of his new technical team were unveiled at the premises of Metro tv, last Thursday earlier this week mentioned to reporters that he will need at least five weeks to assess the playing body before making any pronouncements to either sack or maintain players.

“I need five weeks to know the players before I can do anything. It is better to prepare the team both physically and mentally,” he added.

Soon after this word got out, the players, not wanting to leave the Club are doing all they can to make sure that their names are penciled as one of the few privileged ones to wear the enviable Hearts of Oak jersey in the coming season, which promises to be better than the previous.

Several players who spoke to sportscrusader.com mentioned that apart from staying fit throughout the preseason, they are going to do all they can to make it.

“Even my colleague players who are not players of this club are talking about our new technical team and how they wish they were part of this Hearts team. So if some of us have the chance, I don’t think we have to lose our guard, we have to strive to make the cut, because the Board and the Management are solidly behind them and anyone they choose to sack will be supported as well,” Stephen Tetteh mentioned.

Sampson Cudjoe who had a not too impressive season with the Phobians last term is counting on a good show in training to make the cut, and so are the likes of Luggard Tetteh, Selasie Adjei, Ezekiel Tetteh and a host of other players who spoke to the website.
