Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has been awarded for reaching the milestone of 100 appearances for AC Milan.

Club CEO Adriano Galliani handed out an award on Saturday afternoon ahead of the team’s training session at Milanello.

Boateng chalked that feat after climbing off the bench in their 2-1 win over Carpi in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday.

He first joined Milan in the summer of 2010 on loan from Genoa and went on to play for four season before moving to Schalke 04.

Galliani revealed the ins and outs of the midfielder’s move to the club back in 2010 for his first spell and how his award for 100 appearances with the Milan jersey is long overdue:

"I was at Forte Dei Marmi, and while I was chatting away with Genoa President Preziosi about the 2010 World Cup, he told me that he had signed Boateng, who was a player that I was very impressed with during his performances with Ghana.

"In just 10 minutes, we were able to agree a move from Genoa to Milan. He started his adventure with us on the 28th of August 2010 in Milan-Lecce, a match that ended 4-0 to us, and three years later on the 28th of August 2013 he played his last match of his first spell against PSV Eindhoven and scored twice.

"He then left and so this award has been waiting for him for the past two years! We’re very pleased to have him and I think he is also very happy. You’ve finally come back and so I wish you all the best and I hope you can receive more of these awards in the future."

Boateng said the following: "I am very happy and I hope to make another 100 appearances, but this is a decision for the coach."
