Former Black Stars forward, Prince Tagoe, has emphasised that the absence of investment in sports infrastructure is causing numerous football talents to remain undiscovered in Ghana.

He is not taken aback by the outstanding performances of Spanish 16-year-old sensation, Lamine Yamal, at the 2024 European Championship, attributing it to Spain's solid infrastructural support.

Tagoe suggests that significant investment in sports infrastructure by the government and other stakeholders could enable Ghana to nurture talents of Lamal's caliber, thereby advancing Ghanaian football.

In a panel discussion on Angel TV, Tagoe pointed out that Lamal's impressive display is a testament to Spain's advancement in training facilities and other sports infrastructure.

"He [Lamine Yamal] is an exceptional talent. His performance should not astonish anyone because they have been equipped with excellent infrastructure from the outset. Such emerging talents are a product of a strong foundational system.

"I would not be surprised if we had similar initiatives; we would certainly have players of his quality. Plans for constructing sports infrastructure are often made, yet they barely materialize. They benefit from quality training, and their system is functioning effectively," he expressed in Twi.

Yamal has shone brightly for the Spanish national team in the 2024 Euros, contributing assists and scoring a pivotal goal that has steered the team to the competition's final.

Spain is set to compete against England in the Euro finals on July 14, 2024.
