Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has dismissed claims that his tenure is the worst in Ghana's history based on his performance in office.

He asserted that, given the work he has done, he deserves some recognition despite the challenges his ministry faces, which have led to significant backlash.

The sports minister challenged those making such claims to provide data proving he is the least effective minister during his tenure.

During an encounter with the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament on September 24, 2024, Ussif addressed the criticism of his role as sports minister.

"I disagree with the claim that I am the worst sports minister based on the numbers. I don't know which numbers you are referring to. So, you should be able to produce data to show that during my time it is the worst. I want to see that," he said when questioned about such claims by some personalities in the country.

The sports ministry has faced severe criticism due to the poor state of various national stadia, leading to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banning the Baba Yara Stadium from hosting Black Stars games.

Despite these issues, Ussif disagrees with the assertion that he is the worst sports minister in Ghana's history.

The PAC sitting aims to investigate the issues surrounding the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where the Black Stars performed poorly.
