Proposed 18-club league angers Fianoo

Kudjo Fianoo, Chief Executive of Ashantigold Football Club, has threatened court action against any move to increase the number of clubs in the premiership to 18.

Speaking in an interview with Happy Fm, he said, any attempt to increase the number of clubs in the league as a solution to the delay in the league will incur his wrath, as he was prepared to create another legal path in the case.

According to Fianoo, the statutes of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) do not make any provision for an 18-club league hence his decision to institute legal action against the move.

Fianoo, said, the proposal is against the laws of the GFA and the Ghana League Club Association (GHALCA), must not consider such a move.

He questioned the fairness of GHALCA in the case saying “where was GHALCA when injustice was perpetrated on Ashgold some years ago?

“Where was GHALCA when Ashgold was treated like a colts like in this country?. They should not dare me”.

He said there was a lot of unfairness in the administration of justice at the GFA and the case must be allowed to go the full haul to set the records straight.

The GFA has been dragged to the court by King Faisal Football club over the start of the league following a case at the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA.

The legal battle has caused undue delay in the start of the league hence a proposal from GHALCA for an 18-team league.
