Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Ogum Narteh, has lamented the missed opportunities in his side's defeat to Accra Great Olympics.

The Porcupines succumbed to a 1-0 loss at home on Sunday, June 2, 2024, to Great Olympics, who are battling relegation.

Following the defeat, Ogum asserted that his side gave the game away after failing to capitalize on their chances, including a missed penalty.

"I think our inability to convert those chances that we had, especially in the first half, made the difference. We had so many opportunities that we could have scored, including the penalty."

He noted that his team played well and exploited the Olympics' weaknesses, but their performance in the final third was lacking.

"In the first half, they left so many spaces behind them, on their right side and the left side, and we utilized it very well. But then it all came down to putting the ball into the net or the penultimate pass to someone to score," he said after the game.

The defeat is Kotoko's 13th of the season as they sit 10th on the league table with 43 points.

The Reds have had a challenging campaign, winning only 12 of their 32 games played.

Meanwhile, Great Olympics have given themselves a lifeline after the win. They now sit 16th, two places above the bottom, with 39 points and three matches left.
