Queens 47th best team in the World.

Accra, Dec 22, GNA 96 Ghana's national female soccer team, the Black Queens have ended the year as the 47th best female side in the world. The latest Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) women's rankings released on Friday, December 22 confirmed the position of the Ghanaian team up two places from September's 49th position.

The latest ranking is the highest for the national female team since the rankings was introduced in 2003, according to information gathered by the GNA Sports. The performance of the Queens at the last month African Women Championship (AWC) in Nigeria was transcended on the latest rankings after the Ghanaian team had previously made the 50th position their abode for the last two years. The last time the continent's second best team moved out of the 50th position was in December 2003 following their exploits at the World Women's Championships in the USA.

The perennial rivals of the Queens, the Super Falcons of Nigeria maintained their status as the best on the continent even after dropping a place to the 25th. The first of annual quarterly ranking will be available on March 16, 2007. Germany, USA, Norway, Sweden, North Korea, Brazil, France, Denmark, China and Japan are the best 10 female teams in the world. Just some days ago their male counterparts, the Black Stars ended the year as the 28th best team in the world.
