RICS Charities support Northern Region Inter-Districts Sport Festival

Accra, July 31, GNA - RICS Charities, a subsidiary of RICS Consult has formed a partnership with the Northern Region office of the Ghana Education Service to organize this year's Inter-Districts Basic Schools Sports Festival.

The six-day event commences in Damongo in the West Gonja District on Monday, August 9. Magnus Rex Danquah, Chief Executive of RICS Consult told GNA Sports on Thursday that the partnership which spans five years is aimed at nurturing sports from the basic level towards attaining national excellence.

He explained that the partnership includes the provision of trophies for the entire competition and the award of scholarships and bursaries to talents that will be unearthed during the Sports Festival. "RICS Charities has the cardinal aim of providing opportunities for needy but gifted youngsters to excel in sports through forging such alliances with institutions at the basic level to unearth, nurture and promote their God-given talents."

Rex Danquah said has for the past three years rendered material support to orphanages, the physically challenged and mentally-disturbed institutions in society and has also supported the Inter-Houses Sports Competitions of Mfantsipim School and Wesley Girls High School, both in the Central Region.

Participants at the Inter-Districts Basic Schools Sports Festival would compete in Athletics, Soccer, Volleyball, Handball, Table Tennis and Cross-country. RICS Charities will provide 13 plaques for winners in both the male and female categories. 31 July 08
