RTU bow to Olympics

Ho, April 2, GNA - Accra Great Olympics on Sunday beat Real Tamale United (RTU) by two goals to nil in their Onetouch Premier League encounter at the Ho Sports Stadium.

All the two goals came in the second half after RTU had contained all the attack from Olympics as they also failed to make use of the few chances that came their way until the recess.

RTU raised the tempo of its game after the recess but the defence crumbled and failed to rise up to the task when a defender handled the ball in the 18 yard box in the 75th minute to offer Olympics a spot kick which Emmanuel Clottey converted for the opener.

Three minutes to time, the captain of Olympics Winfred Dormon overlapped and headed home a rebound to beat goalkeeper Mohammed Opash of RTU to silence the visitors while the vociferous supporters of Olympics jubilated.

Earlier two goals scored by Olympics were ruled offside while the two teams were reduced to ten men each in the second half for hard tackling.

Meanwhile, the match which was played under a heavy Police and Military surveillance was nearly disrupted ten minutes to regulation time when a group of macho-men led by one Eddy stormed the Presidential Box asking David Fugah, Director and Shareholder of Olympics to leave the Stadium.

It took security men close to 30 minutes to control the situation, which almost resulted in a scuffle between Mr Fugah and Mr Eric Affortey-Odai, Chairman of Olympics.
