Midfielder Rahim Ayew says Asante Kotoko’s offer to him to sign a new contract at the club is disrespectful.
The 26-year-old was offered a two-year renewal but with the same financial benefits of his expired one-year deal.
Kotoko have included the Ghana international in their squad for their upcoming CAF Champions League campaign despite not reaching an agreement with the player over a contract extension.
The former SK Lierse man who played mostly a full-back position at Kotoko says though he is willing to ink a new deal, the club is not showing enough commitment towards an extension.
“The club I think is not serious about renewing my contract,” he told MTNFootball.com.
“I have played there for one year, and I really want to play but then their offer is very disrespectful.
“They [Kotoko] offered me a two-year deal but with the same financial benefits of the expired deal. This is not done anywhere. “They give everything to a foreign player, but don’t want to do same for Ghanaians.”
Ayew joined Asante Kotoko last November having failed to reach an agreement with rivals Hearts of Oak after protracted negotiations.
The midfielder helped Asante Kotoko to win the league and cup double during his first stint at the club.
