Rahim undergoes Kotoko medical

Ghana midfielder Rahim Ayew has undergone a successful medical at Asante Kotoko, as he seeks a shock move to the Ghanaian powerhouse, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 25-year-old underwent the medical at the Baba Yara stadium Hospital in Kumasi moments ago.

He has now opened financial talks with the Porcupine Warriors as he seeks a move to the country’s biggest club.

There are, however, doubts after he underwent a similar exercise at Kotoko’s rivals, Hearts of Oak, but ended up ditching them.

“I can confirm that Rahim has undergone a successful medical at Kotoko,” an official of Kotoko told GHANAsoccernet.com on condition of anonymity

“He is a fine player and we’ll be glad to work with him. At the moment we’re sorting out the financial details.

“We have not concluded terms yet and so let’s wait to what happens in the coming days.”

The versatile player has been a free agent since leaving Belgian side SK Lierse at the end of last season.

The son of Ghana legend, Abedi Pele, has Ghana Premier League experience after a successful debut season with relegated Eleven Wise in the 2008/2009 season.

The former Ghana Under-20 is making a return to the local scene after an unsuccessful spell abroad.

The midfielder had a nightmarish stint with Egyptian giants, Zamalek, during the 2009-2010 season, before injury blighted his two-year stay with Belgian top flight, SK Lierse.

His likely capture will excite Kotoko fans due to his rich vast of experience ahead of their participation in the CAF Champions League.
