Former black meteors management committee chairman, Randy Abbey says he is very uncomfortable and highly dissatisfied with the performance of the black stars goal keeper Adams Kwarassey in last Saturday’s game between Ghana and Mali in which the black stars beat their Malian counterparts by two goals to nil.
Randy Abbey was speaking on the ‘NEW VOICES’, a political talk show on xfm95.1 an Accra based private radio station. He said he is particularly uncomfortable with the way the goal keeper handled the aerial balls. ‘If you look at all the aerial balls, he faulted and it was a cause of worry for many of us. It is pretty obvious that the goal keeper has problems dealing with those situations, and it wasn’t just once but three times….That was quiet scary’ he added.
Randy Abbey who is also the chairman of the media committee of the Ghana foot ball association (GFA) told host SaCut Amenga-Etego that the technical team must quickly resolve the weaknesses of the black stars goal keeper while there is still time otherwise he could be the bane of the team.
‘To be honest with you, I’m not comfortable with the goal keeper, but fortunately we have a substitute which we can use because in a competition of such nature where we have a lot of such quality opposition, we cannot afford to have that weakness because it will be costly and I hope they’re able to work on that in time before the next game’ he suggested.
He said luckily, the team still has a couple more days to resolve issues with the goal keeper and he is hopeful that the technical work hard so that they will deal better with the aerial balls in the next match with Guinea on Wednesday.
