Ghanaian international who plays his club football for Austria Lustenau, set-backRaphael Dwamena believes the Black Stars have what it takes to win Ghana’s fifth AFCON trophy in Gabon this year.

Dwamena who was dropped by Ghana coach Avram Grant in his final 23 man squad for the tournament speaking in an interview with Egyptian website KingFUT said he was excited to have his first taste of senior national team camp.

It came as a shock to many after the star who has been in scoring form with his Austrian club this season, with a massive 21 goals in 22 appearances so far this season.

“Such a great experience!” Dwamena said. “Been great with the guys and they helped me a lot with ideas to improve my career. Our coach is such a great man with lots of ideas and how to face a game.”

Dwamena is, however, hopeful that his failure to join the Black Stars team to Gabon wouldn't be a setback for him but rather a push as he aims to make the squad for Cameroon 2019.

“I was expecting to make it, but unfortunately I could not. I believe it is part of God’s plan for my life. I am still young with a lot of things ahead of me. I need to keep working harder.”

He added: “I think our group is the toughest. Great countries with good players. All our opponents are tough! But Ghana has a great team and I believe we can go for the cup. We are going to win the Cup,” Dwamena enthused.

Ghana is drawn alongside arch-rivals Egypt, Uganda and Mali in Group D of the 2017 Nations Cup.
