In-form Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila is set to win his first major silverware with Kuwaiti giants Al Qadsia with four matches to end the season.

Sumaila, 23, joined the Kuwaiti giants in 2015 and has since proved an indispensable addition to the league leaders.

With four matches to the end of the season, Al Qadsia have stretched the lead on top of the table by eight points, and a win on Saturday will mean they are a match away from the league trophy.

Closely chased by Al Salmiya and Al Kuwaiti on 51 and 50 points respectively, the Qadsia-based side are poised for their first league trophy in so many years.

Sumaila has been instrumental to the title ambitions of the Kuwaiti league leaders scoring three goals in 26 appearances as a defender.

He emerged the club’s player of the month in March and is in a pole position to win the club’s player of the season as well as the best defender in the Kuwaiti Premier League for the 2015/16 season.
