Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila put up a spirited performance for Al Qadsia in their victory over Kazma FC in the Amir Cup quarter finals played on Tuesday night.
Al Qadsia won by a lone goal in scored in the second half of the game but the exceptional performance of Rashid earned him the Man-of-the-Match award
Rashid, 22, whose performance for the Kuwaiti giants has been skyrocketing guided his side against the dreaded Kazma attackers who were poised for the equalizer.
Sumaila lasted the full throttle as Al Qadsia made it nine wins in a row and ten in the last eleven matches as the march towards annexing the Amir Cup continues.
It was a cagey encounter but Al Qadsia proved too strong for local rivals in the competition with just one defeat in 20 matches.
The Ghana defender came closer to scoring on two occasions with a header but his determination to score did not see light of the day.
He rose to win the MVP award with an explicit performance despite his inability to cap his performance with a goal.
The win means Al Qadsia have qualified to the semi final stage of the competition.
