Razak Nuhu after Ghana left-back slot

Abdul Razak Nuhu is intent on securing the Black Stars left-back position as he prepares for his Ghana debut against China on Wednesday.

The 21 year-old Stromsgodset defender was handed his first-time senior call-up by Kwesi Appiah for Wednesday's friendly in Xi'an.

And the call-up which has excited the young defender is down to his performance for Stromsgodset.

“I feel good and I feel very excited. I thank God that I got this opportunity. That’s the most important thing, to be excited, because not everyone gets these opportunities. I am excited about it,” said Razak Nuhu as he responded to a question about his debut call-up.

“I think I am having a good season so far with the Norwegian side and I am playing almost all the games. I think (the call-up), it’s due to my performance.”

Razak Nuhu, who is on-loan with the Norwegian side from English champions, Manchester City, is after a regular place in the national side and believes he can use the friendly against the Chinese team to stake a claim for a position in the Ghana team.

“Sure, I think I have a chance to secure the left-back and everything is going to show in the game (China friendly). I think the game will decide,” a confident Razak Nuhu said.

“There is always history for everyone, if you work; there is a place in history for you.

“So I think if have the chance, I can make some history in the Black Stars.”
