The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Edward Osei-Kwaku, inaugurated the reconstituted GHA together with other Sports Associations at the Press Centre of the National Sports Council (NSC) on Thursday, 6^th December 2001. In his inaugural speech, the Minister indicated that the Sports Ministry has worked out a plan that would complement the work of all sporting associations and serve as a guide to facilitate the flourishing of Ghana in the coming years. The Honourable Minister indicated that said the plan would take into consideration the focal areas key to the development of various sporting disciplines.

Ghana Hockey Association Reconstituted

Dec 4 -- The National Sports Council (NSC), in consultation with the Minister of Youth and Sports has announced the reconstitution of the membership of the Ghana Hockey Association. In a letter dated November 27 2001, the Acting Chief Executive of the NSC named various personalities associated with the game and called on them to use their rich knowledge experience of the game to enhance the development and promotion of the game of hockey in the country. The membership comprise:

i. Col. Armah Okai (GAHA) - Member
j. Representative, GUSA - Member

The Chairman convened an informal meeting of the new members of the Association on Saturday December 1 2001 at the National Hockey Pitch after most of them had played for their respective clubs in the on-going Pepsi Hockey League to discuss the task ahead of the Association. The major task of the Association as revealed by the Chairman was the preparations to host the African Clubs Championship for both men and women slated for April-May 2002. A formal meeting to offer a thorough briefing was scheduled for a date during the week (3-7 December).
