Record attendance at Osagyefo Health and Fitness Walk

Accra, Sept. 20, GNA - A record high patronage of enthusiastic people on Saturday participated in the Osagyefo Health and Fitness Walk, which took place through some principal streets of the Accra Metropolis. The event which was organised by the Maximum Gym and Fitness Centre was to commemorate the Centenary celebrations of Ghana's First President Dr Kwame Nkruamh. It was organised in collaboration with Abors Multimedia and saw participants drawn from over 35 Fitness Clubs and Organisations within the Greater Accra Region.

A total of about 2000 participants took part in the 20-kilometre Walk that took off from the premises of the Maximum Gym in Dansoman through Sakaman, McCarthy Hill and back to Dansoman. The event was graced by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Deputy Minister of Information and was climaxed with an aerobics session for participants at the Dansoman Keep Fit Club.

Nii Amarh Amarteifio, Coordinator of the event described the Walk as a success despite challenges in securing sponsorship. He emphasized on the need for regular exercises for all persons and gave the assurance that the event would be developed to achieve its goal of helping the people to stay healthy at all times. "The Osagyefo Health and Fitness Walk have come to stay and shall remain a regular feature on our calendar." He added. Nii Amarteifio who doubles as the Manager of the Maximum Fitness Centre also commended the sponsors for their efforts towards the successful organisation of the event.

The Health Walk was sponsored by Van-J Eye Care, Benco Hospitex, Kwatsons Ghana Limited, Voltic Mineral Water and Red Bull Energy Drink. Other dignitaries who participated in the Walk included Alex Quartey, Executive Director of Kwatsons Ghana Limited, Benson Okoli, Managing Director of Benco Hospitex and Alex Yartey Tawiah, Divisional Commander of the Dansoman Police Station. 20 Sept. 09
