Ref. Lamptey & Co handed Nigeria-Congo game

Four Ghanaian FIFA referees led by Joseph Lamptey will board a Thursday morning flight from Accra for the weekend’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between African Champions Nigeria and Congo.

The African Champions were initially billed to kick off their Group A qualifying campaign against Rwanda but a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Committee ruling banned them for using an unqualified player.

Lamptey, the 39-year-old senior Ghana Immigrations Officer will be the centre-man for the clash set for the U. J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar on Saturday, September 6 with compatriots Abdul Malik Seidu and David Laryea as assistants.

Ghana’s 2014 FA Cup Referee of the Year, William Selorm Agbovi has been named the reserve referee.

Niger’s Abdoulkadri Boube will also serve as the Match Commissioner.

Nigeria will be battling Congo, South Africa and Sudan for one of two Group A slots for Morocco 2015.
