Referees are killing Ghana football – Gruzah

Alhaji Ahmed Abdul Karim Gruzah founder and owner of King Faisal Football Club has accused Ghanaian referees of killing the game in the country.

The renowned football administrator told the Justice Senyo Dzamefe Presidential Commission of Inquiry, the conduct of most referees on the field gives credence to the fact that they were corrupt and decide the outcome of the league matches.

According Alhaji Gruzah, though he has no evidence to back his claim, he was certain of his allegations, adding that, club administrators have over the years aided referees in their crime.

“I have been watching European referees and I must admit they commit errors but the kind of errors committed by Ghanaian referees were too obvious and deliberate.

“I know what I am talking about because I am part of the dirty and clean water in Ghana football. We the club administrators are part of the crime and until we all admit to speak the truth, Ghana football will not see any progress,” he stated.

He also accused police officers of conniving with home clubs to cheat visiting teams.

According Gruzah, most police officers are fans of the home clubs and play a role in the intimidation of visiting teams.

Alhaji Gruzah appealed to commission to make recommendations that will help revive colts football in the country adding that, colts league which used to provide a lot of quality players for the premier league sides was dead.
