Referees gear up for Premiership

Accra, Feb. 17, GNA - Over 146 soccer referees will between February 18-25, gather at the Prampram Center of Excellence to undertake a three days refresher course in preparations for the 2005 soccer season. The course, which is being organised by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), will take the participants through a stock taking exercise, where they will assess their performance in the 2004 soccer season and to strategise for the coming football season.

The course, which is to be organised in two batches, will involve 72 referees from the Southern sector to start on Friday, February 18, whilst the second batch of 74 participants will undertake their course on Friday, February 25.

Mr Kofi Nsiah, General Secretary of the GFA in a statement copied to the GNA Sports said the course is compulsory and all the referees are expected to attend without fail while reminding them to bring along their training their kits.

Among some of the referees taking part in the course are Justus Agbeko, Alex Kotey Christian Atsata, Joseph Lamptey, Charles Dowuona, Vivia Aggor, Ebenezer Furgurson, W.L. Quaye, Joseph Mortey, Kwao Sampson, E.N. Adjei, P.K. Agego Aziza, Felix Armeh, Thomas Nunoo, Kofi Antwi, O.K Amnakwah, Annan Lomotey, Samuel Quaye, Abigail Sowah, Faustina Ziorklui, David Laryea, Daniel Ofei, J.A.P. Sowah, Francis Okwam, R.N. Dodoo and Ahitey Armah.
