Rejoinder - facts & Figures -Ghana/Unity Cup

We have noticed and read with grave concern an uninvestigated publication from the website of "Ghanaweb.com" of wednesday, 8th june, 2005, concerning the issuance of a "dud" cheque from the organisers, OSMI.

We are very much concerned about the use of the GFA's name in this matter since we have very good rapport with them, we were advised to stop the cheque by the GFA and we were advised to pay cash into their account, to the extent that the GFA provided us with their account transfer details for us to assist in accelerating the rate at which they (GFA)will "sight" the money in their account($50.000.00) in order to utilise some in catering for the players in camp for the unity cup.

WE OBLIGED BY ARRANGING FOR A CASH TRANSFER. Before the money would reach Ghana there was this Ghanaweb.com publication of a dud cheque.

We were extremly shocked as to this development since the publishers could have done some serious investigations prior to this false and panicky announcement on a website so widely read, it will suffice to place it firmly on record that a reputed company like OSMI will never indulge in an act of this sort-issuing a "dud" cheque.

We also wish to register our discontent about the damage that the publication caused to our hard-won image. It is our prayer that we put our energies to good use and for the good of the game. The tournament was postponed due to failure in negotiations of policing the event by the British Police.

For further enquiries regarding the postponement of the unity cup, please read BBC Sport on their website at http://news.bbc.co.uk (Sport) of 8th June, 2005. Thank you.
