‘Return of Ayews, Kevin gives us options’

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is happy with the return of the Ayew brothers, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari to the Black Stars.

The Marseille duo - Andre and Jordan Ayew - as well as AC Milan midfielder Boateng retired temporarily from the national team, but announced their comeback last week. Muntari was suspended for misconduct and was reinstated after apologising.

Coach Appiah is delighted with the ‘good options’ the quartet will present him as he gears up for the ultimate 2014 World Cup group qualifying tie against Zambia on September 6.

“It's always good to have lots of options,” Appiah told the Ghana FA website. “I am happy that they have made themselves available to play for the Black Stars and I am ready to work with every player. We are all chasing the same goal, winning against Zambia.”

Appiah added: “It’s not important to scrutinise their - players - decisions to return to the team. I think the focus should be on the game against Zambia and nothing else. Every Ghanaian who is available for the national team will always be considered.

“No disrespect to the other players. They have done a fantastic job up until now and we can and should only get better with the return of the players."

“Our focus is just Zambia and I call for positive thinking from everyone. The return of the players should rather lift us and present us with good options going forward.

"We are all professionals and know what the target is,” the Black Stars coach said.
