Return of Inusah, competition for defenders – Gnagne

Skipper for Accra Hearts of Oak, Robin Gnagne has said the return of defender Musah Inusah from injury will make the defensive position of the club more competitive.

The defender has been unable to feature for the Phobians in the first round of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) due to a recurring knee injury.

Inusah has enjoyed great partnership with his colleague at the heart of defence for the Phobians in recent times after playing in the last two games together. This paring has led to both central players for Accra Hearts Oak being classified as the wall for the Phobians by many journalists and football pundits.

Robin Gnagne, speaking to Class Sports, however, said defenders must now fight to maintain their position in the starting 11.

“Last season, we were playing together and this season, unfortunately, he was having some injury, then he was out for some time, now he is back. I and Kofi Atinga were there, now he is back and we have to fight a lot for the position because we have a lot of competition”, he stated adding that: “Everybody is improving because, as you can see at training, we are all determined, we are all fighting so that we can be in the first eleven”.

Twenty-six-year-old Inusah would be available for selection ahead of Hearts of Oak’s mid-week premier league game against Liberty professionals at the Accra sports stadium on Wednesday June 29.
