Rev Osei Kofi ‘curses’ Ghana, says AFCON title drought will be prolonged

Former Black Stars attacker Rev Osei Kofi has warned that Ghana’s 38 year wait for an AFCON trophy will be prolonged if football authorities don’t bring the likes of Samuel Osei Kuffour to book.

Osei Kofi also wants the authorities to step in and resolve the impasse between the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana and the Retired Players Association.

This has been brought about due to the refusal of Osei Kuffour (then a member of the Normalisation Committee) to deny the old players a chance to vote at the last GFA elections.

Kuffour insisted that the old players merge with the PFAG before they get to enjoy such privileges.

This didn’t sit well with the veterans who have subsequently unleashed venom on the former Bayern Munich defender and the leadership of PFAG.

Mohammed Ahmed ‘Polo’ days ago lambasted Osei Kuffour and PFAG chief Tony Baffoe for being disrespectful.

2 time AFCON winner Osei Kofi, shares similar sentiments and suggests it was not proper for the old players who have won laurels for Ghana to be treated that way.

“Osei Kuffour cannot compare to us in any way. Afterall the four cups (AFCON titles) that Ghana has won, we have won some, how many has he won” he remarked.

“What he did is very bad and disrespectful. The Bible even tells us to honour your father and mother so your days may be prolonged on earth and it shall be well with you”

“Off late, we have several young men dying and you see posters telling a story of what a shock, gone too soon, they should be mindful of how they talk. Its not everyone that you show disrespect towards”

Osei Kofi has sternly warned that if the issue at hand isn’t settled then Ghana should brace up for an extension of the AFCON title drought beyond the current 38 years.

“With what they’ve done, the authorities should look into it and settle things or else Ghana’s 38 years wait for an AFCON trophy will be prolonged” he boldly claimed.
