Former Ghana international Rev Osei Kofi has said it will be extremely difficult for both Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold to make a great impact in Africa inter-club competition.
Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold will represent Ghana in next season’s CAF’ inter-club competitions following the truncation of the season 2019/2020 football season by the Ghana Football Association.
The Ghana football season has been cancelled as a result of the crisis presented by the Coronavirus pandemic.
According to the former Kotoko winger, it is uncalled for any club in the country to participate in Africa without a competitive league and has, therefore, advised Ghana’s representatives in next year’s competition to pull out.
“It will be very difficult for Kotoko and Ashantigold to perform well because the players lack much fitness. They should not think of making an impact with this team but if they want to just go and participate that is fine”
“With my experience in football, so far as we are not playing the league no club should be allowed to go to Africa. When you look into the Kotoko team during the NC tournament they were good at first half but at a point in time you will see them struggle because of match fitness”
“It’s a technical and tactical term. If they will adhere to me they should not go to Africa to avoid disgrace” he concluded.
