The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to revive lesser-known sports in Ghana if he wins the 2024 general elections.

His government plans to focus on sports like beach soccer, volleyball, and other lesser-known activities to increase the nation's participation in various tournaments.

Additionally, Mahama intends to integrate sports into the educational curriculum to effectively nurture talents for various teams.

During the Youth Manifesto Launch, Kafui Danku, an NDC member cum actress, read the manifesto, highlighting the party's commitment to promoting sports development in schools and communities.

"The NDC is very passionate about sports. Apart from football, many other sports have not been very popular lately. So, besides football and boxing, President Mahama will work on reviving beach soccer, volleyball, regatta, and more. He will also prioritize sports development in schools.

"We're going to integrate sports into our classroom activities so that as students learn, they also develop their talents. President Mahama is committed to mainstreaming sports development in our schools and communities. Similar to the Right to Dream Academy, this involves training more technical personnel and providing the necessary infrastructure to support talent development," she said.

The Youth Manifesto Launch was held at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) to announce the NDC's policies aimed at gaining youth support ahead of the 2024 elections.
