Former Wa All Stars FC shot stopper and current Ghana’s number one custodian Richard Ofori has called on the playing body of Wa All Stars to avoid the drop despite their underwhelming start to the championship.

The Maritzburg United shot-stopper urged the playing body of the team to put their struggles aside and steer the club away from the drop to keep their pedigree and profession alive.

The one-time inspirational goalkeeper for Wa All Stars cited their nomadic adventure as one of the negative factors affecting their performances but was quick to inspire them to fight harder.

Wa All Stars FC stay rooted at the bottom of the log with 7 points from the available 39 but their goalkeeper still wants them to avoid the drop.

Speaking on the need to avoid relegation, the current Maritzburg United goalkeeper called for strong mentality in the midst of such trying times.

“It wasn’t easy because the time I was playing there it wasn’t easy especially the travelling. Especially if you are playing Medeama SC like 15-16 hours drive and you go back the same day you play the game for the next game. It was not easy.

“The travelling is affecting them. Now they need a strong mentality and they shouldn’t use the travelling as an excuse. We were there and we won the league traveling the same distance.

“They need t wake up and do something for the club. If they don’t try to keep the club in the premier they will suffer because no player will want to play the first division. They need to do anything possible to remain in the league”, Ofori told 442gh.com

Wa All Stars FC endured a nightmare start to their domestic and compounded their survival woes with another 4-1 defeat to Medeama SC yesterday.
