Right to Dream graduates Abdul Majeed Waris and David Accam have received call-ups to Ghana’s preliminary 26-man squad for the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
The news follows on from a number of impressive performances by the duo for their respective clubs in Europe, as well as previous national team exploits.
Striking sensation, Abdul Majeed Waris scored in three consecutive World Cup Qualifiers, as he helped Ghana secure their place at football’s greatest tournament.

Waris has contributed nine goals in Ligue 1 for Valenciennes in France, after joining on loan from Spartak Moscow in January.

Accam is Ghana’s leading marksman in Europe, scoring 12 goals in all competitions for his Swedish club, Helsingborgs.

Last week, Accam helped Helsingborgs into the Final of the Swedish Cup with a wonder goal against Malmo in the Semi-Final – picking the ball from his own half and racing through the Malmo defence to score in the corner with a deft finish.
And on the day of his call-up to the World Cup Squad he celebrated by scoring the winner in Helsingborgs 1-0 victory over IF Brommapojkarna.
Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah, will prune down the 26-man squad to 23 following a ten-day training camp in Accra and a friendly against Netherlands on 31st May.
Gareth Henderby, Technical Director at RtD, coached Waris and Accam during their time at the Academy in Ghana.

Commenting on the news, Gareth Henderby said: "We are all very proud of the boys. They fully deserve the call ups due to their high performance levels this season. Both have shown the qualities and mental fortitude to push on in their development at club level and I believe they will show, at the World Cup, they can play on the biggest football platform as well."

The RtD trio of Divine Naah, Thomas Agyapong and Yaw Yeboah helped Ghana’s U-20 team, the Black Satellites, secure a 2:0 victory over their Sierra Leonean counterparts in the first leg an African Youth Championship qualifier in Bo on Saturday.
Last month, RtD’s quartet of Nana Kingsley Fobi, Collins Tanor, Ernest Agyiri and Enoch Adu played their part as Ghana’s U-17s won a Four-Nation Tournament in Namibia.
