Roberto Di Matteo wants to keep Jordan Ayew at Villa

Roberto Di Matteo insists he will not lose any player he wants to keep at Aston Villa, including prized asset Jordan Ayew.

The Villa boss is confident he can build on his squad rather than repair it in times to come.

The Italian coach is hoping to make the Black Stars striker the cornerstone of Villa’s bid to return to the Premiership at the first time of asking.

Midfielder Idrissa Gana will be leaving because of a release clause in his contract with both Everton and West Ham keen on his services.

However, the Senegal ace is expected to be the only key departure before the close of the transfer window.

“We’re in a position where we don’t have to sell any player,” said Di Matteo.

“Ayew will be a part of our plans and he will stay here.

“He will shine through with the right support from the team.
