AS Roma is closing in on their next defensive reinforcement, with reports suggesting a deal for Lens defender Kevin Danso is nearing completion.

According to French news portal RMC Sport, negotiations between the French side and the Serie A club are close to a positive conclusion.

The Austrian-born Ghanaian defender, formerly of Augsburg, has been persuaded by Roma's project and is open to a move to the Italian capital.

However, other clubs, including an unnamed German team, remain interested in Kevin Danso and are awaiting his final decision.

French journalist Sebastien Denis of Footmercato reports that AS Roma has offered €20 million, with an agreement potentially being sealed for €23 million net.

Transfermarkt values Danso at €25 million, following a season where he made 30 appearances and scored one goal in Ligue 1.

The 24-year-old started in Lens' opening game of the 2024/25 season against Angers on August 18th. Lens beat Angers 1-0, with Wesley Saïd scoring in the 28th minute.
