Roma’s contract offer to Ayew revealed

Andre Ayew’s officials met with AS Roma officials earlier this week to discuss possible terms ahead of a potential move this summer.

While it appears to be inevitable that the Ghana superstar will finally call time on his career at his beloved Olympique de Marseille, with whom he has failed to agree terms on a new deal, Ayew’s next destination remains a mystery.

Last week, he indicated that he would be keen to play in England, and that he supported Liverpool, edging Brendan Rodgers’s side into the lead in the race for his signature.

However, reports this week indicate that the Giallorossi are serious about bringing Ayew to Rome and according to L’Equipe, have already made a contract proposal.

Details have emerged after the offer made by Roma; La Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed that a yearly salary of €3 million has been proposed, although that it is dependent on La Maggica securing a return to the Champions League for next season.

Ayew has made it clear that he wants to play regularly in Europe’s elite club competition—something that had eluded him at OM. With seven games to go in the Italian season, Roma currently sit in third—in line for a return to the Champions League—level on points with city rivals Lazio and five ahead of Napoli, who occupy the first Europa League qualifying berth.

Similarly, Roma would require the Champions League revenue to fund their ambitious offer to Ayew.

La Provence have provided more detail, noting that Rudi Garcia is keen to tie the Black Star down to a three-year deal.

The daily Marseille paper have also acknowledged that Russian heavyweights Spartak Moscow have made a more lucrative offer to the forward—with a monthly wage of over €300,000—but that the player would prefer a switch to Serie A over Russia.

While Roma may appear to be in the driving seat right now, Ayew will surely be expecting further concrete offers for his services over the coming weeks.

In Serie A, both Milan clubs and Napoli have been linked to his signature, while German interest is provided by Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg.

Finally, Premier League sides Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Swansea City, Queens Park Rangers and Everton are all rumoured to be eyeing the Black Star.
