Saint-Etienne end interest in Jordan Ayew

The Greens will not sign the Ghanaian striker because he stands a better chance of playing at the Nations Cup in 2015 and would not want to suffer in his absence

Saint-Etienne have ended their pursuit of Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew and will now look into the market to purchase a new forward.

The Ligue 1 side which will be competing in Europe are in the market looking for a goal appliance following the sale of Brandao.

The Mevlut Erding outfit made young Ayew their number one striking target but have finally recoiled because chances are they will be without him in January due to international assignment.

“Christophe Galtier will not recruit players capable of playing the sectional African Nations Cup in January,” a club spokesperson told La Provence.

“Jordan Ayew and Algerian striker Aissa Mandi of Stade Reims will all not be signed this summer.”

Ayew who is also on the wanted list of Lille, Lyon, Nice, Schalke and others spent the second half of last season on loan at Sochaux where he netted five goals. He has just a year left on his Marseille contract.
