Sakumono Presby wins Chocho Inter-Faith Games

The Sakumono Presbyterian Church of Ghana defeated Central Spiritualists of Moree in the Central Region, 9-8 on penalties to win this year’s National Chocho Inter-Faith Games held at the University of Ghana, Legon, on Tuesday.

The match started on a fast note and saw both teams making several incursions into each other’s vital area but could not find the net till half time.

The story was not different in the second half as the teams struggled for the opener which did not come till full time, sending the game in to penalties.

For their prize, the champions received a brand new Opel Astra car, a magnificent trophy and products of Chocho Industries Limited, organizers and sponsors of the games, while the second-placed team received a 51-inch Flat screen Television set and products of the company.

In the Tug-Of-Peace segment, Ahmadiyya Muslim Women emerged champions by beating Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saint 2-0.

The champions were also given a trophy, a Flat screen Television set and Chocho products.

Other churches that took part in the games include Suhum Presbyterian Church, Kotobabi Living Bread, Adenta Church of Pentecost and Fadama Mosque, the defending champions, who were eliminated in the semi-final stage.

Alhaji Mustapha Oti-Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of Chocho Industries Limited, who presented the prizes to the winners, said the aim of the annual event was to bring all Christians under one umbrella and also promote peace.

He gave the assurance that his outfit would continue organizing the games annually.
