Samad Oppong wins day for Faisal

Kumasi, March 22, GNA - Kumasi-based King Faisal on Sunday beat Wa All Stars 2-1 in their Glo Premier League encounter played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The home team made their intentions of clinching victory very clear in the early stages of the match as they bombarded the goal area of All Stars but wasted the chances that came their way in the first, fourth and 25th minutes.

Abedi Sarfo however shot Faisal into the lead in the 42nd minute with a well-rehearsed goal as he beautifully lobbed the ball over the head of goalkeeper Robert Adabuo. In the second half, All Stars lifted up their game as they mounted series of attacks from the midfield which yielded dividends in the 75th minute when Emmanuel Osei beat an offside trap to head home the equalizer.

Faisal who seemed not perturbed about the goal, launched another attack and succeeded in clinching the match winner in the 86th minute through a spot kick taken by Samad Oppong after All Stars' Amin Ishmael handled the ball in his vital area.

In a related development, Obuasi AshGold were held to a 1-1 draw by Bechem Chelsea at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium also on Sunday. It was visiting Chelsea who scored the first goal in the 29th minute through Richard Atikah before AshGold managed to level up the scores in the 86th minute through Solomon Addy from a corner-kick for the two sides to split the points.
