Ghanaian champions Samartex have bolstered their squad by signing highly-rated defender Kofi Agbesimah from Hearts of Oak.

After a challenging season, Agbesimah expressed his desire to leave Hearts of Oak and has now secured a two-year contract with Samartex. This signing is a significant boost for the club as they prepare for their debut in the CAF Champions League.

"We are delighted to announce that experienced centre-back Kofi Agbesimah has joined us permanently on a two-year deal from Accra Hearts of Oak. His acquisition will invigorate the defense with unmatched experience and add a new dimension to the team," Samartex announced.

Agbesimah was one of Hearts of Oak’s most reliable players during a tough season, making 30 league appearances. Despite his strong performances, he sought a new challenge and communicated his intentions to the club.

Before joining Hearts of Oak, the 27-year-old defender had a notable five-year stint with Bechem United, where he served as captain for nearly three seasons.

Agbesimah aims to make his debut against Cameroonian side TP Elect Sport FC in the first preliminary round of the 2024/25 CAF Champions League.
