World title chasing brothers, Bastie and Issah Samir will seek to enhance their championship bids when they both return into the ring on August 30 on the undercard of the Put Up or Shut Up boxing show headlined by Bukom Banku’s much-sought encounter against Ayitey Powers.
The venue is once again the Car Park of the Accra Sports Stadium where both brothers last fought, each claiming convincing wins on May 3 on another Golden Mike Boxing Promotions blockbuster. In the event, Bastie claimed an opening round win over Faniyi Ademola of Nigeria in a Super Middleweight contest whilst Issah pummeled Robison Omsarashvili until the Georgian couldn’t take it any longer, falling to a 3rd round TKO.
On August 30, on the latest star-studded Golden Concepts International cum Golden Mike Promotions bill, Issah returns to defend the IBF Youth Light Middleweight belt he won back on May 3rd against compatriot Aryee Ayittey.
Fighting on the same night is Bastie who will come down from the US to face a yet-to-be named opponent in a Super Middleweight encounter. Bastie had to proceed to the US recently upon the invitation of pound-for-pound king, Floyd Mayweather to spar ahead of Money Mayweather’s September 14 epic fight against Canelo Alvarez.
He will however spend an average of about a week to make the return trip to Ghana to fight on August 30 before returning. Henry Manly-Spain, Manager of both brothers, says their respective bouts are very important.
“Yes Bastie is coming down to fight on 30th August and go back and continue his sparring with Mayweather. He needs the fight to maintain his fitness. I expect Issah to also win, I don’t expect him to have any headache,” Mr. Manly-Spain said.
