Satellites eager for fine start

Ghana coach Maxwell Konadu is happy to lead the U-20 team as he hopes to ensure qualification to the 2013 Africa Youth Championship.

On Saturday, the Black Satellites get off their qualifying with a first leg meeting against Uganda in Nakivubo.

Konadu, who led Asante Kotoko to the title in the domestic league goes into the campaign on a high after enjoying a fine start to his temporary reign with the U-20 team which begun 27 days ago.

The squad have been impressive in the build up to the game against the Hippos having scored 10 goals in three trial games while conceding one.

The statistics and improvements has left Konadu impressed but the coach is not getting ahead of himself, rather, he is determined to ensure that Ghana, winners of both the Africa Youth Championship and World Cup titles in 2009, reach next year's finals in Algeria.

“I must just say that we are ready for the game. We have been training hard and so we are prepared for the task ahead,” Konadu said.

The winner of the two-leg tie advances to meet either Morocco or the Gambia in the second round set for September and October.
