Ghana’s Under 20 national team, the Black Satellites will camp in Italy and Spain ahead of next month’s African Youth Soccer championships in Algeria.
The Black Satellites management committee chairman, George Afriyie told footy-ghana.com that the training camps would adequately prepare the team for the tournament, adding that majority of the training time would be spent in Spain.
“The team will first train in Italy before moving to Spain, where majority of the time will be spent due to similar weather conditions in Algeria. That should prepare us adequately for the tournament.”
Afriyie also told footy-ghana.com that a 25-man squad would travel for the training camps, after which 4 players would be dropped before the tournament.
“We will take a 25-man squad to Italy and Spain, after which the squad will be whittled down to the 21-man squad required for the tournament.”
The African Youth Soccer Championships will take place from 16th to 30th March 2013 in Algeria and Ghana, tournament winners in 1993, 1999 and 2009 are drawn in Group A with hosts Algeria, Egypt and Benin.
