Schlupp happy with Black Stars experience

The Foxes' defender is pleased with the experience gained after being part of Ghana's provisional squad for the World Cup and hope to be part of the Afcon qualifying series

Ghana defender Jeff Schlupp has hailed his short stint with the Black Stars after being named in Kwesi Appiah's provisional squad ahead of the World Cup.

The Leicester City player has admitted he gained a lot of experience at the Black Stars camp, adding that he wished to represent Ghana in the next edition.

“I had a great experience with Ghana and I was in the provisional squad for the World Cup," Schlupp told Leicester City's official website. “I didn’t make the tournament unfortunately but it was a great learning curve. There are still many more World Cups to come so hopefully I can make one in my career.”

“I spoke to the [Ghana ] manager a couple of days ago about the African Cup of Nations qualifiers coming up that I could be involved in,” he revealed.

The 21-year-old defender is expected to play against Everton in a pre-season game in Thailand and faces them once again in the opening day fixtures in the English Premier League and he insists it will be a good experience for his side.

“It will be a good experience to play against a side as big as Everton in a friendly first. I think it’s positive, we can see what they’re like in Thailand first, but the first game of the season will be much different. At least we’ll get a good insight to their playing style and personnel.”
