Schlupp plays first competitive match for Ghana

Leicester City’s Jeffrey Schlupp played his first competitive game for Ghana in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at home on Saturday.

The German-born, who was dropped from the provisional 2014 World Cup final squad, played the entire duration at the Baba Yara Stadium in the 1-1 draw with Uganda. Schlupp put up an above average performance and was delightful to watch him on the offensive and whip in the crosses.

He was chosen ahead of Baba Rahman who plays for Bundesliga side Augsburg.

The 21-year-old earned his debut call-up in November 2011 and was a second half substitute in an international friendly against Gabon.

Ahead of the World Cup finals, he played against the Netherlands on 31 May in Rotterdam.
