Jr featherweight endola at ringside Al Seeger(22-1-0)122 continued his rise to the upper echelons of the division by scoring a seventh round TKO over Ablorh Sowah (18-6-1)121 in Savannah at Jarrrells Gym on Saturday. Seeger opened nicely, showing his superior boxing skills and utlilizing his reach advantage to the fullest. Throughout the fight Seeger threw a variety of crisp, effective combinations. Sowah managed some success in the second round by taking the action inside and along the ropes, however he could not duplicate this strategy in other rounds. The ring phyisician stopped the action due to a swelling on the upper forehead of Sowah.
Local favorite Norman Jones (23-13-3)175 was upset by Daniel Sackey (7-2-1)176 in their eight rounder. Sackey started quickly and kept Jones at bay with jabs and uppercuts, piling on points early. Jones began to have some success later in the fight while Sackey tired. It was not enough as Jones went down in a split decision. In four round action, Don Hall (5-1)168 pounded Phillip Hammac(4-12)159 into submission battering him until Hammac's corner threw in the towel in the third. Susan Nance (1-7-1)127 was knocked out in the first round by Donna Biggers (12-1-1)127. In the opener Joseph Akin (7-4-1)188 and Calvin Dixon (1-0-1)191 fought to a tactical draw where neither fighter deserved to win.
