Segbefia wins Bok Nam Kim Memorial Golf championship

Tema, April 8, GNA - James Segbefia returned a net score of 61 to win the 11th annual Bok Nam Kim Memorial Golf championship played at the Tema Country Golf Course on Saturday.

Paul Nukunu came second with 63 net followed by David Nazareth third place with 66 net, beating Frank Etwi-Barimah on count-back while Alex Fiagbe took the fifth position with 67 net. Beatrice Vetsche-Bempong won the Ladies category with 69 net followed by Florence Etwi-Barimah the second position with 70 net after beating Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong on count-back with Beatrice Hampton placing fourth with 72 net.

Emos Korblah won the Professionals category with 135 gross followed by John Mawule at the second position with 137 gross, Victor Brave-Mensah was third with 140 while Eric Henaku placed fourth with 141 gross.

The one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford event opened to amateur and professional golfers across the country, was sponsored by Afko Group of Companies.

Mr Kofi Gyau, Captain of the Tema Country Golf Club, commended the late Mr Kim for his contributions that ensured the development of the Club. He asked the members of the club to get involved in activities of the Club so that the sport would be developed.

Mr Charles Bintim, Minister for Local Government and Rural Development urged the Club to encourage the youth to take active interest in the sport so that they can aspire to higher laurels in future when the old once face out.
