Sekou Nkrumah inaugurates Labone Chess club

Son of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, former President of Ghana, Sekou Nkrumah, is upbeat about development and promotion of chess in the country after he inaugurated the Labone Chess Club.

Sekou, a key player of Chess, is part of the Ghana Chess Association and has taken it upon himself to invest money into the development of the game in the country.

The Labone Chess club, which now belongs to him, will in the next few days, start unearthing talents in the country for future championships, both locally and internationally.

“It’s been difficult in Ghana, because we leave in a country where everybody seems to have a soft spot for football. What some of us can do is to start taking the mantel to do other sports and make sure we promote and develop it for the future generation.”

“The Labone Chess club will make sure we groom young kids from the ages of 8 to start playing the game, so that when they grow, they will be able to compete with the top guns in the world.”
